The Local e-Government National Take-up Campaign
On November 11th 2005, Local e-Government Minister Jim Fitzpatrick announced the launch of a national take-up campaign designed to raise citizen awareness and use of council e-services. MORI research carried out for the DCLG by the e-citizen National Project (www.e-citizen.gov.uk) showed that current usage of council e-channels still lags behind public interest in using them. The research, completed on behalf of the e-citizen project, shows that 46% of the population (17.5 million) are ready, willing and able to use e-services.
The DCLC, working closely with the Norwich City Council led e-citizen project, have devised a campaign to tap into this latent demand, and support councils in turning this citizen interest into action. The campaign will be run in Local Authorities across England in early 2006.
Norwich City Council will continue publishing information concerning take-up at www.e-citizen.gov.uk

"This new national campaign is a bold step by the DCLG, and it puts marketing of e-channels right at the top of the Government's e-government agenda"

Head of Communications & Research at Norwich City Council
